Soap and Glory goodies

As it gets cold again its good to treat oneself with some lovely beauty care products.
Im currently testing out some soap and glory goodies which I bought from boots.

Here are some of the products that I have bought, I had to test out the great kisser lip balms
Theyre petroleum based but they smell great, the peachy one smells like apricot conditioner, really zesty, fruity, apricot. The coconut is lovely too, and vanilla has a pinky gold sheen think Mac rubenesque paint pot.

Im also really into handcream right now, probably due to the fact that I've really neglected myself over the past year (boo-hoo) The Hand food cream is not too thick and not too light so its ok to use during the day. its especially  great after being out in the cold/inside in the heating and after having hands in and out of water it also smells nice which is always a plus.

The Smooch operator is really hard and waxy as opposed to gooey, soft and glossy like the great kisser lip balms, Ironically I thought the smooth operator would be my night treatment but due to the surprising texture I feel its better under a lipstick during the day.

The Heel genius was a real surpriser i was expecting basically something the same/similar to the hand food but this foot cream is completely different, for starters its a minty colour, a very light gel-like texture and smaells lovely. I love that it contains fruit acids to gently slough away at any dead skin, between foot exfoliation treatments.  Also that it contains Allantoin which calms and soothes, now which busy girl or mum does not need that?

All products available from boots here

Which soap and glory products are you loving?
Have you tried any of these?

Benefit Rockateur

Benefit recently introduced a new boxed blush called Rockateur rep £23.50, like many others out there I have quite a few of these boxed blushes, I have bellabamba, 10, and thrrob, in the full sizes and most of the others in smaller sizes the two im missing from my overall collection are hervana and sugar bomb both of which i do like I just havent purchased.

When i first saw the pre-launch pictures of rockateur I was so excited and knew immediately that I had to get this blush.

Benefit had a few prelaunch sales of this blush but none were near me as they were a few select stores.

Luckily Debenhams had it online as a prelaunch too so I immediately snapped it up. get yours here

Ive had it a while now and used it quite abit and you can see the print on the powder disappearing.

I dont think its very rock chick at all, infact I think its very glamourous, sophisticated and chic, it has gold and pink packaging with a black lace print which I love!

there is also a new shaped brush in this compact which is more rounded and domed whilst still being a flat brush!

The colour is described as rose gold and I love, love rose gold!

I think the shade is quite a ballerina peachy Shade, very delicate and gentle, the shimmer in it so very subtle, ohh im in love!

You can see it applied with the brush above, and below it swatched with my  finger.

Just as a final note I realised that this shade goes well with the rococo nail apparel that I am wearing today which is in the shade 'flower town luxe' Im loving this shade and it was supposed to have its own post which is still to come so consider this a sneaky preview! get yours here

Have you picked up this blush ?

What do you think?

Bourjois happy light foundation is back with friends and family!

Bourjois happy light foundation currently available for £7.99 normal RRP will be £11.99

This must be one of the most best high street/drugstore product launches if not the best ever!
im so excited that bourjois has bought back happy light foundation, this was my foundation of choice until they discontinued it.
It applied nicely, looked fresh and non mask light, had spf15 (I think)
and came in a tube so great for travel.
but that must have been about 16 years ago!

I think the formula has changed somewhat and no longer has spf protection, the packaging has clearly changed and now has a pump dispenser, I think the tube was better although I love pumps but tubes are easier for travel and I think every brand should have one tube choice available for travel purposes.

The coverage is quite light, and luminous, alot lighter that the other foundations pictured namely healthy mix foundation and healthy mix serum, I think that the 10 hour sleep effect offers the most coverage.

There are two happy light primers, Im normally dry skin but recently ive had acne, and now, oiliness so ive opted for the matte primer which works quite well, ive used it under the foundation and mixed with the foundation. I still want to try the other primer also.
The healthy light concealer only comes in two choices I chose the more yellow toned one no 21 ivoire

You can see the other bourgeois items that I have purchased myself to try, I try to avoid buying high street makeup as it is so accessible and I build up a huge collection very quickly and when I have clearouts I tend to give away bags of new high street makeup free to family and friends which is actually hundreds of pounds of product, but its much easier than parting with products from Chanel and Dior for example.
So a few years back I banned myself from buying drugstore makeup for this reason, but the high street has really changed and some products now are matching their high end competitors

I have pictured some of my bourjois collection, I do have some more products, but they can wait until future posts, funnily the one item I do not have is my all time holy grail item which is the bourjois liquid eyeliner, and I have seen they have a newer version of it which looks fab, it has pink packaging and a rubber on the top too- yes a rubber, where makeup meets stationary lol!

Products pictured
Bourjois delice de soleil bronzing powder no 14 olive tanned skins
Bourjois blush no 41 healthy mix
Bourjois eclat mineral radiance no 05 dore
Bourjois healthy mix correcting concealer no 52 medium
Bourjois healthy mix foundation no 53 light beige
Bourjois healthy mix serum gel foundation no 53 light beige
Bourjois 10 hour sleep effect foundation no 74 beige
Bourjois happy light  foundation no 52 light beige
Bourjois happy light matte serum primer
Bourjois flower perfection translucent smoothing primer
Bourjois happy light ultra covering concealer no 21 ivoire
Bourjois healthy balance unifying powder no 53 light beige

Review:- Mac Glamour daze holiday collection 2012

I think I did really well this past christmas and did not purchase too much from this collection

Items purchased
Devine desire quite coral exclusive set
Primped out eye look bag sensual peach
innocence frost lipstick
in the limelight pearl nail lacquer
Small vanity blush
Easy manner blush

Mac innocence l/s -I love peachy coral lipsticks theyre so pretty to look at and also very complimentary on my skin tone
In the limelight n/p Im obsessed with minty nail polishes and have a crazy collection that i will share with you very soon

Sensual peach kit features an eyeshadow duo in mulch which is a frosty chocolate brown with gold shimmer in a velvet finish and is macs top selling eyeshadow (last time I checked) I already had this in my mac 15 eyeshadow pro palette but I dont mind having another in this duo, since I love neutral brown beige duos.

The other eyeshadow in this duo is dazzlelight which is a champagney light baby peach in a frost finish. I've never used these two colours together before but I like the effect it gives I use dazzlelight all over and the mulch in outer corner of the lid and on the outer v it gives a perfect day to night look. this duo reminds me of my favourite chanel duo of the moment chanel sable emouvant 37 although they are not exactly the same but you can get a similar finish.

Opulash is an OK mascara, I already had it and was using it at the time I made this purchase its nice for volume and thickness but i did not feel it was what I need as I have voluminous, straight, short stubby lashes I need length and curve more than anything. so Ive back to mac my old one and will use this in the future.

I was glad to get stubborn brown powerpoint  eye pencil in this kit as I like the pigmentation and intensity of the powerpoint pencils I have a few in the shade feline which gives good colour and works on the waterline however these pencils do not have great staying power the colour quickly spreads down so these are best used blended out with a cotton bud or brush.

I have quite a few of the limited edition short brushes from mac but do not mind having another 275 brush as they are versatile to give colour on the lid or intensify the crease or even use as a highlight if you are starting out and looking for one mac eyeshadow brush I suggest this one or the 239 brush.

It was nice to get the bag in this collection however I do agree with Temptalia when she says that the bag should atleast fit the items that came in it.

Devine desire quite coral kit
this kit was an exclusive edition and only available on www.maccosmetics.co.uk
It contains
In a heartbeat cremesheen lipstick which is a soft peachy coral shade abit more coral than shy girl which is abit more beigey peach.

Born to love blush in a frost finish this is like style blush but without the gold.

Its nice that mac put in a little 129 brush but i do feel that this brush is not as good quality as other 129 brushes that I have had in kits before but its not totally horrible by anymeans infact its very soft so nice to use on my sensitive skin, this brush works well with all powder products such as blush, bronzer, loose and pressed powder

Pure flattery is a very nice peach coral lipglass  and works perfectly with in a heartbeat and innocence lipstick.

I really like the mac technakhol liners although theyre not as pigmented and as soft as the powerpoint pencils they're great handbag items as they do not require sharpening and they also qualify for back to mac. Photogravure is described as a brown black colour and you can see in the swatches that it is darker than stubborn brown. so this is a great shade to have if your always changing from brown to black eyeliners.

The kit comes with a nice case that has a mirror and a pocket and a removeable plastic insert that holds the makeup items, I plan to use this as a jewellery box, which i may use for travel also currntly im using a chanel purse as my travel jewellery case.

Products Swatched
Born to love blush
In a heartbeat l/s
pure flattery l/g
Photogravure e/l
Innocence l/s
dazzlelight e/s
mulch e/s
stubborn brown e/l

The first thing I grabbed from this collection were these two beautiful blushed in
Easy manner is a pretty peachy pink but it shows up more baby pink on me similar to well dressed blush.

Small Vanity is a neutral almost plummy blush with a brown beige undertone great on medium tones and to enhance the contours of the cheeks.

Ive also swatched easy manner and small vanity next to born to love for comparison purposes.

I love these products Im getting alot of use out of these products and do not regret purchasing any of them
theres probably still some items from this collection floating about on the mac website in the goodbyes section and in the CCO's.

What did you buy from this collection ?

Review :- Carine Roitfeld face kit and lipstick

MAC Desert Camouflage face kit  and Tropical mist lipstick

I was quite late in getting these items I spent a lot of time humming and aahing
before I finally took the plunge and bought this.

I do think I'm currently having a carbon overdose not only is it in my personal neutral fifteen eyeshadow pro palette but it is also in my quad that I custom made to enhance other palettes and looks.
Now because mac has added it into about at least three palettes or kits that I own I'm abit sick of having carbon in my quads and palettes.
I know some other wonders of this palette would have preferred a brown in this palette, personally I would accept almost anything from navy blue to baby pink!

My main reason for purchasing this kit was to keep on hand incase I wanted to do a quick touch up or add colour to an otherwise bland look.

The quad contains four shades sahara dust- a nice cream coloured highlight shade, cactus thorn a nice  olive shade for the lid which reminds me of patina, Desert a somewhat mauve brown which works beautifully in the crease , and then carbon which is a boring black.

I have swatched all four eyeshadows above in the order of
carbon, desert, cactus thorn, sahara dust.

above the eyeshadow swatches you can see sand storm swatched which is a creme blend blush, a gorgeous perfectly natural blush shade to sculpt the cheeks.

And above the blush you can see the lipstick in tropical mist swatched

Ive labelled this picture to help you all to see all of the shades, can you see the lipstick
the shiny patch/line across my hand, yes, indeed that is the lipstick.

After purchasing the lipstick (online) and after trying it on and being a little confused, I decided to check out reviews online, I stumbled across temptalias review (as you do)  and she talks about how she doesn't feel that macs description of sheer matches the product and she says its more translucent to which I absolutely agree, the one thing that I felt couldn't be right is that she said it was drying, I was thinking its clear, it has no colour if its not moisturising then what is it ?
so I tried it on as my lipstick of the day, and I carried it with me everywhere I went, the school run, the mall etc and for the first time ever I found myself reapplying this lipstick without looking in the mirror and seeing colour fade it was more for moisturisation purposes because my lips felt bare dry!

Im abit unsure as to what I should do with this lipstick as it has no colour at all so its not like other lipsticks where you can mix and match for colour effects.

Did you buy anything from this collection?
Any ideas for this damn lipstick??

BTW the packaging is very pretty and functional !

Mini Review :- Liz Earle Sheer skin tint spf15 tinted moisturiser

Mini Review at this point as ive only had this product a few days
The liz earle skin tint is due to release this month september 2011
I was very lucky to be sent a sample package :)

I like the packaging, Its very sleek and will look good amongst any makeup and skincare collection
I like that the packaging has been kept compact and not over-bulked and is lightweight
and is a very decent 40ml 1.3 oz

I think that the spf in the skin tint is a mineral one and not a chemical one so suitable for sensitive skins

I have listed the ingredients of the skin tint because I sometimes get questions about foundation ingredients
The skin tint is also animal friendly inline with the rest of the liz earle skincare line
Liz Earle often talks about how difficult it is to obtain the animal friendly bunny badge and that very few companys pass the criteria to qualify

I have also displayed the customer service number and address incase you have any queries I cannot answer

now on to the swatches
the 2 shades I have tried are beige and beach

Beige is the medium shade in the range and the lightest in the picture
Beach is the darkest shade and the darker shade in my picture

Texture wise the LETM is very creamy, it is hydrating, and it is very light coverage and does give a glow or dewy look
TIP: go up a shade to give yourself a faux tan tint - it is that forgiving

I have bad skin so i do need to use concealer and a powder foundation over this
if you are choosing the LE TM because you want to improve your skin and you need more coverage try the bare escentuals mineral foundation over this
and if you have good skin why not add a cheek tint or cream blush, lipgloss and your chosen eye makeup and your good to go

From my swatches and the swatches I have seen elsewhere of the lightest colour -bare
Im making some colour recommendations

Bare is similar to laura mercier tinted moisturiser in nude
Beige is similar to laura mercier tinted moisturiser in bisque
Beach is similar to laura mercier tinted moisturiser in sand

In mac terms

Bare suitable for mac nw/ nc15  to  nc25
Beige suitable for mac nw/ nc25 to nc35
Beach suitable for mac nw/ nc35 to nc45

In estee lauder terms

Bare - intensity 1
beige - intensity 2
beach - intensity 3

in bobbi brown terms

Bare - beige
Beige - natural
Beach -honey

and I know liz earle herself has dry skin and I know that when she creates and formulates products she makes them for herself, and she would not launch this if it did not work on her and on that note her business partner kim has oilier skin so again if this product was not suitable for her either im sure she would not be happy to release this product either, I love thier business story and Ive been using Liz earle products for years now on and off so Im very aware of about 80% of their products <3

This product was sent to me as above but all of the above is my own opinion

Review:-Revlon colorburst lipstick

Revlon describes these lipsticks as an instant burst of rich colour with a feather light feel
I think they retail for about £8 in the UK and are available in 8 shades
I really like these lipsticks the packaging is very smart and sophisticated and the top of the lipsticks are colour co ordinated to the actual shade of the lipstick inside the bullet.

I really feel that these lipsticks are the perfect and more affordable dupe of the recently launched Bobbi brown rich lip Color which are somewhere near the £15 mark
So you can buy two of these for the price of 1 bobbi brown lipstick
and at the time that I am posting this Boots are running a buy 2 get 3rd free on Revlon cosmetics
so hurry if you want to buy 2 or three of these.

Colours Swatched are
Baby pink
Carnation
Fuschia
Coral
Peach
Raspberry
True Red
Crimson

The first colours I thought I would get are nude and baby pink after seeing swatches of these shades on Amiras beauty blog who also shares a love of nude lip shades
however nude did not make it to the UK :(
but worry not I managed to get one at an increased price directly from the USA
from the UK stock I bought 'peach' which is actually a light orange.

I have been really bad I took these pictures when the lipstick launched
but I hope you will forgive me because I have put them up now

There are two other colours available in the UK now
these are :-
'Nude blush' and 'Rose'

and i think another 7 new shades in USA
Petal
Pink Sugar
Candy Pink
Cherry Ice
Lilac
Mauve
Plum

I would be tempted to pick up a pink shade from the UK collection but I already have the Bobbi brown rich lip color in 'mod pink' which I have already blogged about.

I definitely like carnation, nude blush, baby pink from the UK collection so these are the three shades I would pick up if I bought them in the offer from boots.

And from the USA my recommendations would be petal and pink sugar from the online swatches that Revlon have provided on their websites but any experienced makeup buyer will know that these can be totally off!

I hope you like this post
I would love to know your thoughts and whether you have picked up any of these lipsticks or your recommendations for any other lipstick you think that I should have in my collection.

Thanx for stopping by

REVIEW :- Honey B wash me

I usually have to use handwash from L’occitane and Molton brown as I have very sensitive skin which is on the dry side, I am not keen on soap bars where sharing is concerned just from a health and hygiene point of view I feel that pump dispensers are best! I find my hands are parched after using alot of handwashes and soaps, especially as a young yummy mummy, with my hands constantly in and out of water, I feel that daily tasks can really take their toll on my hands especially.

Because my hands are always on show I like to keep my hands clean, well groomed and time allowing -well polished!

I was really interested in trying Honey B handwash by Scottish fine soaps.

The packaging is super cute, its shaped like a bee-hive and the handwash is a pretty golden yellow shade which can be seen through the sheer bottle, it looks really nice on my wash basin in my bathroom.

(Im not going to throw the bottle away Im going to refill this one coz its purdy! )

It is water based and contains sodium laureth sulphate for its cleansing properties, similar to higher priced brands like Philosophy and has natural honey in it.

It lathers nicely and leaves the most subtle smell -something Im really liking about the products from this brand as I tend to like to wear very expensive perfumes and I dont like my toiletries to over-power my perfume! although my hands do feel slightly dry but not over un-comfortably dry and I’ve not had any soreness or redness or rash.

I still need to use some sort of hand moisturiser but not after every hand wash. but this is the same I get with the likes of Molton brown and L’occitane .

This is something that I would happily purchase again as it is an all round good product

(my 3 Ps -Packaging, Product, Price) it costs £6.95 and is available online at

http://www.scottishfinesoaps.com/honey-b-hand-wash-and-lotion-c-7_45/honey-b-creme-handwash-300ml-p-107

I have found that scottish fine soaps are also now available in select John Lewis stores for those of you in the UK!

Picture taken with my iphone 3GS

Disclaimer I was sent this product.

Review:- Smashbox Masquerade liquid eyeliner and overlay

Yay, I found my camera lead so as promised here are some better pics of the Smashbox Masquerade ltd ed Liquid liner and lash overlay

I love liquid liners that come with a brush because the application is smoother on the lid
The formula is a similar consistency to MAC liquid last but this stuff washes off -yay!
The colour is like molton metal.
Its dramatic in a very blingy way!
You can see the grooves on the side of the applicator this basically acts as a wand-less mascara wand tto add a metallic effect to your lashes as per the picture below

This look is from my FOTD and is the Black and gold smokey look
there is a list of products used and basic method listed.

I hope you like this look

Please do comment and ill get back to you and thank you for subscribing -Its free!

REVIEW:- Smashbox Masquerade liquid eyeliner and lipgloss

The complete Smashbox Masquerade ltd ed Fall 2010 collection
I have the Golden coloured glossand the bronze coloured liner

I think the whole collection looks gorgeous
I love the look of the eye palette :)

Smashbox is now available in the UK in Debenhams stores and online at
www.debenhams.com

I have used the Smashbox masquerade liquid eyeliner and lash overlay along both upper and lower lashline
I used pigment over the lower lashline in heritage rouge
and I have used the lash overlay applicator to add a golden effect to my lashes
you can see the golden along side the black lashes in the above picture

The liner has a brush applicator but has notches cut out of the wand to allow ease of use to tint lashes over black mascara

Smashbox Masquerade Lip enhancing gloss is a moisturising Lipgloss and follows the smashbox tradition of no smell and no taste though there is a slight smell from the ingredients
I have the colour bronze which is sheer golden colour but has gold and rose gold pearly shimmer.
The lipgloss is a large size and is compareable to a MAC dazzleglass

I have used this gloss to tone down a deep red clinique lipstick in the above picture

I think both of these shades are useable for those people who like to incorporate gold into their looks -yes thats me :) !!!

I cant find my camera USB lead so I cannot upload the pics of the liner and gloss until I find it -sorry babes :(

These products were sent to me to review :)

Review: Lancome Hypnose Drama, Le crayon khol, Bi facil, Art liner

I have used both Lancomes Hypnose and Hypnose drama
Both are great
The difference between the two are subtle when it comes to effect but the drama has a huge brush
I only like mascaras that give length and volume
the whole point in me wearing mascara is to enhance my lashes
I dont care if I look like I have mascara on just that my lashes look huge
I have sensitive eyes and This mascara is non agitating
I can use this from root to tip and not have a problem
even the wand is a good size and shape that really lets you comfortably apply your mascara
The actual tube is shaped to get a comfortable hold using either hand
it is abit pricey but if you are looking for a high volume none agitating mascara from a luxury brand then try this one and let me know your thoughts

The picture also shows Bi-facil eye makeup remover which is a bi or dual phase makeup remover for the eyes. Which is an award wining eye makeup remover.
It really has stood the test of time, and has had many brands follow this formula
-again pricey 0but if you are looking for a eye makeup remover from a higher brand I give you the thumbs up

Lancome le crayon Khol
This is a really good eyeliner one of the few that I recommend
and one of the very few that I can use on my inner rim without agitation
You can get a good precise line with this, or smudge it for a smokey effect its pretty long lasting and does not need a scourer to take it off

Lancome Art liner
I have been using Lancome artliner for years now
these are a felt tipped liqud eyeliner
probably not best for beginners
the felt tip is smooth and are great to get a medium line and my famous signature flick
I usually get both black and brown -The brown has a gorgeous bronze shimmer
the Loreal liquid liner is an affordable dupe of this

Tried and tested high street makeup

I really wanted to share Some high street affordable makeup products with you all that I have been testing that are worth a shout out, they are not all my favourites but they are good :)

Foundation -Loreal Infallible foundation
this is a really good foundation, fine on sensitive skin, even dry skin, long lasting, has a pump dispenser, no smell, good colour range (6/8 in uk)
Rimmel concealer
quite pigmented and some light reflection
Max Factor Mascara
False lash effect mascara -OMG not what I expected at all, This gives length, volume, and thickness, the biggest result Ive had from a mascara /almost like MAC zoom lash but better
ELF mineral eyeshadows
they actually use the exact same packaging as the Bare escentuals mineral eyeshadows so these fit into my collection perfectly, the quality is almost the same -my faves are celeb, natural, and golden.
Rimmel professional liquid eyeliner
Introduced to this by my sister, it is used by celeb MUAs and it is great for beginners and those looking for a very fine line as it has an ultra thin easy to use brush, the formula is black and lasts almost all day id say over 8 hours
No7 mascara
this mascara is for those looking for long defined lashes
Revlon Lipliner in red
I dont wear alot of red lips so I wanted a high street red lipliner and this was great
No7 lipgloss
no7 lipglosses are a great formula, nice taste, quite moisturising and are in wearable shades
Maybelline lipsticks
I have already reviewed these, great colours and packaging
Boots natural collection Clear mascara
I think expensive clear mascaras are a waste of money, these cost only £2 and can be used on fake lashes and to tidy brows etc the formula does not aggravate my sensitive eyes
Maybelline express nail polish
OMG, this nail polish dries superfast! It says 40 seconds on the bottle but I always wait 2 minutes before I touch my nails -my fave is the shimmery maroon shade -supa sexy!
thats a big thing for me to rave about a high street nail polish because I have a huge collection of OPI and nails inc and never use much else!
ELF false lashes
the cheapest lashes I could find, I prefer the natural as they look like fantastic lashes, also NYC lashes are cheap
Revlon Colorstay Powder
this is a good, affordable face powder more suitable for normal/comb/oily skin -not my fave high street powder! if you want loose try boots natural collection -only £3!
Body shop blush
nice easy to use wearable colours in see through top packaging, shade 04 is a dupe for nars orgasm at a 1/3 of the price :)

I hope you have found this post useful

Cargo essential eye palette -quick rave review

I absolutely love this eye palette and its definitely named correctly.
It really is essential!
you dont need a neutral MAC 15 pan pro palette
as this has your essential colours
there are 4 colours and each colour has its use indented into it
perfect for the less confident also
and it will last you for ages as each colour is 4g of eyeshadow
the shadows have the following labels -
  1. Browbone
  2. Lid
  3. Crease
  4. Outer Corner
the outer corner colour also doubles up as a liner and eyebrow shade also
Unfortunately I already spent alot to have a neutral MAC pro 15 pan palette which Ive had since before I had this cargo palette

All in all girls, I definitely recommend it coz I love it!

The love of my life -Liquid eye liners

Some of the Liquid eyliners I use, Recommend, and Repeat purchase.

Rimmel -very thin brush for a thin line -used by celeb MUA's.

Bourjois-my oldest friend - I have been repeat purchasing this since I was at school it has a thin to medium brush.

L'oreal - this has a long felt tipped brush and is similar to Lancomes liquid eyeliner.

Clinique- felt tipped pen applicator for a good steady thick line.

Estee lauder -new formula -very long lasting similar applicator to clinique.

Laura geller - brush applicator in double ended tube offering choice of green and grey.

MAC -nice brush, thick formula in various colour, its like when you stand in dog-shit and you can never quite get it all of your shoes.-trust!

Gosh - Cheap high street dupe of the above Mac liquidlast -doesnt come off.

others I purchase inc -Chanel, Lancome, YSL, not too keen on Diors.

I hope this helped you all.
