A look inside my october Joliebox 2012

JolieBox October 2012

My package arrived yesterday, and I could not wait to share the contents of this months box with you.
Although its too early to actually fully review the products I still wanted to share my first impression thoughts with you.

In the box
Ritessens velvet face cleanser
Nice big full size product from a brand ive never heard from but would be interested to try this, I hope I like i since it is so big.

Lov organic tea in 'lov is beautiful'
Im actually very interested in trying these scandinavian tea bags.  they're very premium quality tea bags, the bags are actually made of muslin, and although I hate standard black tea, And I think that white tea tastes like sh**.
This tea is a combination of white tea, green tea, and red tea aka redbush/rooibos tea (I love both green tea and red tea) and they also contain pieces of fruit which sounds delicious.

Jason Bee healthier lip balm stick
it seems to be just another lip balm but made with natural ingredients with aloe vera which is known to be very soothing, beeswax which is very softening/moisturising and the best thing is that the first or main bulk ingredient is actually cocoa butter. maybe its not just an ordinary lipbalm afterall, I guess a person can never have too many lipbalms!

Balance me daily essentials balancing facial moisturiser
this is a small but decent 10ml moisturiser suitable for normal combination skin.
it is made from 99% natural ingredients, I think its somewhat of a nice but normal moisturiser so I will put this aside for travel or until a later date since im trying to use up current open products.

Moa the green balm
this is a cute little dinky jar, is a multi purpose balm that is made from 100% natural ingredients. I have received this in a previous Joliebox and its nice for lips and cuticles and is soo tiny it can even fit in the tiniest of purse or wallet and its very unisex with its simple packaging and fresh natural smell. This would also be nice to use on small children and babies. It reminds me of Liz Earle superbalm. My favourite use for this product is on cuticles since i have my hands in and out of water as a very busy mum.

Do you use any of these products?
What did you get in your JolieBox ?

A look inside my September Joliebox

Inside my Sepember 2012 JolieBox

Balmi coconut flavour lipbalm
This reminds me of EOS lipbalm because of the way it looks and coconut cookies because of the way it smells, It comes with an attachment to attach onto a mobile phone but as i have an iphone i cant do this but I am thinking of attaching it to my keys or I'll just leave it as it is.

I love... Strawberry face mask
I will probably use this when I have some girly me-time.

Redken Align 12 protective straightening lotion
Ive always loved Redken hair products so im always happy to receive moisturising and straightening hair products and especially happy whe they are from brands such as Redken.

Twistbands
I received two of these one in red and one in orange, I personally tend to stick to black or brown hair bands and clips but i was interested to try these bands because they are specially made to not leave a ponytail dent in your hair. I used this in the same way that you would use a hairband (also tried other ways) but I found it still bent and dented my hair, but I do have exceptionally thick, voluminous hair ohh and its long too!

Dr Bragi marine exfoliant
two teeny tiny samples in clear sachets, I'll be keeping these for travel.

A look inside my august Jolie box

Inside my August 2012 JolieBox

Dr bronners Magic all in one soaps
I received three samples of these soaps, currently ive put them aside for when I travel.

Jolie song card
A downloadable credit for the song on the card
did you download yours, did you like this song??

Phil Smith dry clean revitalising dry shampoo
My hair and scalp tend to be on the drier side so I dont use these products plus I feel that they are abit of a gimmick as you can just use baby powder to absorb any oil on your hair roots.

Cut by fred
I didnt get this product, let me know if youve managed to do anything special with yours. to me its just a ribbon, and I tend to not use ribbons as they dont provide me with the hold my voluminous hair requires. I am thinking friendship bracelets and jewellery though!

So susan lip cushion
this came in very pretty packaging that was alot bigger than the lipbalm so I thought I was going to find something big, but its a nice small dinky container with a pink tinted glittery lip balm

So susan wide awake palette
Susan is the lady behind Jelly pong pong, Im not sure if shes sold that business but shes back using her own name now and with similar products.
This palette contains two cream makeups to use as camouflage one is an illuminator for under eyes and the other is a highlighter to use on cheeks and other parts of your face that you would want to highlight.  It also contains a brow kit however the brow powders are actually shimmery shades of smokey plum and moss green, I've not been tempted to use this palette yet i may save it for gift time as i feel it may not be for me which is a shame as I like the idea of it even though concealers and brows are a rare combination.

Do you use any of these products ??

FOTD:- Featuring Mac Marilyn monroe legendary and pure zen and swatches

I never could have imagined that the mac marilyn monroe collection could be so successful.
But ofcourse I wanted my share of the collection,  unfortunately it was very late before I managed to get to my local Mac counter at my local Debenhams store. And most of the items (that I wanted, anyway) had sold out, boo hoo. but thats another story, because i'd already put in an order for the Lipstick in 'pure zen' and the blush in 'legendary' from selfridges and these are definitely two of my most worn items from the whole collection.

on my face
Mac pro longwear foundation 'nc30'
Mac pro longwear concealer 'nc30'
Clininque double face powder 'beige'
Mac Blush 'legendary'

On my eyes
Ysl smoky eyeshadow collecter palette (white, silver, black glitter)
Mac fluidline 'blacktrack'
Mac lash primer
Mac mascara 'opulash'
Benefit brows a gogo

On my lips
Mac l/s 'pure zen'

Both legendary and pure zen work together in perfect harmony to create a very peachy nude look, and look equally amazing with a nude eye look or a dramatic smokey look, I have kept my look quite light and easily wearable for everyday.

Pure zen is a repromote from a previous collection and so has the only name throughout the collection that has nothing to do with the life of Marilyn Monroe. My personal thoughts for the reason for this is that the pure zen lipstick is such a similar shade to the blush as you can see in the swatches above.

Mac Marilyn monroe pure zen lipstick swatched on the lips.

I have purchased all of the lipsticks and the two blushes as I feel that this is all that i need from the collection, I did not want to go too mad.

What did you get/miss from this collection?

NOTD:- Ciate Bon bon

Dont you just love the packaging of the Ciate nail paint pots?  I actually have abit of a 'bow' obsession, I think bows are just so cute and adorable, I like bows in my accessories and in my jewellery on my clothes, on my presents...... I think you get the picture.

My hands are still quite weak and therefore its still a miracle that I manage to paint my nails at all, let alone get a neat application. Im wearing two coats as one coat of Ciate formula tends to apply quite streaky, and you can probably see I have a booboo due to the nail polish still being damage-able 15-20 minutes after application. I usually prefer to do my nails of the day without top coats as some top coats such as the one that I mainly use , Seche vite tends to alter the colour.

I love love love this shade, its so hard to describe but Ill have to say that bonbon is a sweet, creamy, milky, baby, taupe, and I thank Marie Claire for having this freeby with the magazine.

I think this shade is suitable for absolutely any occasion and any season it so light that its almost pastel like, but being a taupe shade makes it very universal, and being a neutral shade it goes with everything.

Which Ciate nail pots do you have or even similar shades from other brands?

FOTD:- A Mac Pro LongWear look

This is a very quick and simple daytime look that is based on mainly Mac pro longwear
products and featuring the new new Mac office hours pro longwear Blush in blush all day !

On My Face
Mac Pro Longwear foundation nc30
Mac Pro longwear concealer nc30
Clinique Double face powder 'beige'
Mac Pro longwear blush 'blush all day'

Eyes
Mac pro longwear eyeshadow in 'sweet satisfaction'
Mac fluidline in 'blacktrack' on upper and lower lashline
Mac mascara

Lips
Gale hayman liplift
Mac pro longwear lipcreme in 'overtime'

Mac pro longwear eyeshadow in 'sweet satisfaction'
I already had the pro longwear eyeshadow in sweet satisfaction from when it was first launched it and fell in love with it instantly, its a very neutral eyeshadow and its somewhere in between mac all that glitters and mac satin taupe, both of which i own and love and now I love this more. its very smooth and pigmented in fact I like to apply this with my finger onto my eyelid and I have already made a dip into this eyeshadow which is rare for me.

Mac Pro longwear Blush in 'Blush all day'
Again, I instantly fell in love with this blush in the same way as i fell in love with the eyeshadow, its a very neutral colour that is a tad peachy, which is very complimentary on my golden beige/nc30 skin tone, so this was a must have for me. I also loved the theme of the mac office hours collection-The story of my life, stationary and cosmetics! if you opened my work drawers amongst snacks you would find a combination of all the stationary you could need as well as all the makeup you could want.
Infact even at home I often find stationary items creep into my makeup area and my beauty items on my desk -lol!

Mac pro longwear lipstick in 'overtime'
again I picked this up with the original pro longwear lipcremes, for me this was the best option, its a ery light pink, and is very pigmented and great for covering up pigmented lips like mine. I dont think that these lipsticks should cost more that the normal lipsticks though theyre not that special! this lipstick is like the pink sister of mac 'myth' lipstick. I dont like the packaging of these lipsticks if you bring the lipstick up you have ti push it back down with your finger which is uber-annoying! and its the same story for both shades that I own from this range, the other lipstick is 'good to go' a very orange lipstick that ive already featured in my holiday makeup bag post.

Most items available from Debenhams,  House of Fraser

I hope you enjoyed this post
thanx for stopping by.

My October GlossyBox 2012

The October Glossybox just arrived about an hour ago in perfect timing for me to blog about it.

Theres also a cute little breast cancer support sticker but none of the items specifically relate to breast cancer care or special editions.

Its titled 'DIY Beauty' and I was expecting alot of masks and scrubs and facial or bodycare types of items, but I dont think that theres alot of DIY products in there other than the body scrub.

Items in the box
Anatomicals dont just clean it woman, scrub it, body scrub
Skinetica Anti blemish
Dr.Jart + premium BB beauty balm all in one wonder spf40
Olay Regenerist 3 point treatment cream
Yves Rocher moisturising cream lipstick 106 Mauve

The BB Cream seems quite pale its actually neutral undertoned but luckily its very sheer and sinks straight in. could work on light to medium skin tones but might look ashy on dark to deep skintones.
It reminds me of clinique city block sheer spf25. I do wish that this item was in one of the summer glossyboxes though this would make a great on the go, or holiday bag item.

I was quite excited to see that the lipstick shade I was sent is mauve but mauve can be translated so differently from brand to brand if you consider that mac describes the shade 'snob' as 'a ladylike mauve' but I feel its a very cool light pinky shade.
This is a deeper mauve quite neutral brown with plummy undertone, the lipstick is very creamy and I feel that the shade is perfect for this Autumn winter season I think that i will slip this lipstick straight into my handbag for on the go, although its not a wear-with-everything lipstick shade but its  a nice colour to have in addition to other shades that i'm currently carrying.
It also reminds me of my new Chanel lipstick in Charactere.

I hope this was helpful, Do you get the glossybox, Ifso whats in your box?

NOTD :- Revlon Fuchsia Fever

Revlon nail lacquer in fuchsia fever no 040

Its been two months since I've been able to paint my nails but today I decided I jut had to apply this colour it is the most gorgeous pink ever, I fell in love with t when it was displayed with other revlon nail polishes at the checkout I immediately picked it up and had to have it.

My hands are still uber weak and shaky after the accident (see previous post for details) so the application is clearly somewhat messy but I dont care I think the fact that I've applied it myself feels like an achievement :) I think I should have probably started off with an OPI nail lacquer for its pro brush or a nails inc for its formula which are probably better brands for people with dexterity issues in their hands.
(one coat of lacquer over OPI nail envy no top coat)

Im somewhat addicted to fuchsia warmer pinks at the moment, im loving all thats pink which is funny because this has been a very orange summer for me so moving on to the pinks this autumn.

I've also pictured the revlon colorburst lipstick in fuchsia no 030 which is such a gorgeous vibrant pink. Im usually not into such bright colours but I'm really like them for the moment!

Available from Boots and Superdrug
What do you think about these shades do you have them or something similar ??
What are you loving right now ?

An update:- Where has Raspcherry been??

 Hello my lovelies!
I know that I have been away for the longest time ever.
Unfortunately on the 27th june 2012 me and the children were in a car crash, I was stopped at a pedestrian crossing to allow someone to cross, the next moment I was hit by a speeding car, I was immediately knocked out unconscious but luckily I came around quite quickly, I was taken to hospital and diagnosed with head injury, whip lash, concussion and musculoskeletal injury from my neck all down my back and down my right arm through to my hand and fingers.
both kids hit their heads and were whiplashed too but are recovering and otherwise quite well now.
Fortunately it seems I took most of the the blow and came out the most injured as opposed to my children suffering such injurys, like any other loving mother I always pray for my childrens safety and happiness and that I would  gladly stand in the way and accept any danger before it touches my children, It seems my prayers came true.

Since the accident i've just been busy caring for my children, I've not really been able to take any specific rest as a busy mum, so I've not had time to blog etc also my injurys have made this difficult,I keep forgetting my train of thought, lose concentration, forget things,  plus I've been having alot of confusion etc due to the blow to my head, but I've managed to survive through trying to organise myself with a diary, leaving post it sticky notes to myself, setting alarms on my iphone, to-do-lists on my ipad etc. the other problem is that my movements are very limited, I cant bend my back much, I cant turn my head much, and I find it very difficult to grab and hold things and move my right arm very much as it literally got crushed in the accident.

Also I had returned to study earlier in the year, when I embarked on a law degree which is why my blog posts became alot less frequent. Unfortunately I've had to take a break from this as I had a coursework assignment due at about the time of the accident and my brain had gone blank of all the learning I had done.

All of my family and close friends know me as gadget girl, and true to this name I tend to carry alot of my gadget babies around with me and on the day of the accident most of babys got damaged in the car including, my macbooks, ipads, iphone, kindle, my camera, my 600d DSLR, as well as my fave D&G sunglasses, and the back of my car was completely crushed :(

So thats where I have been, I've completely been away from the world of blogging and I have no idea whats been going on as I've not been online much other than to liaise with the insurance companys etc

Please do let me know whats been going on, what you've been up to I'd love to know.

Im hoping to start blogging again, i'm still on extreme painkillers so I think I can manage to try and blog alot more.

Avoid Cuckoo Fashion

I ordered some Asian indian-pakistani style clothes from cuckoo fashion on the 7th of march this year (2012) They send items by courier so I received the clothes within a couple of days.

I was excited to receive my packages (as I always am) However, the clothes were faulty, the stitching was a mess, the neckline was not straight, the sleeves on one of the dresses were two different sizes one arm was tight on me whilst the other loose, one of the dresses had a very very low neckline to the point that it reveals the top half of your boobies and its not a layering type of dress it was just cut and stitched low, one of the dresses arrived with a tiny pair of trousers that looked  like child trousers and not the size consistent with the dress, one of the dresses was torn, another dress had undone stitches, one of the dresses was really tight on the chest area and not consistent with the sizing that was stated on the website.
So needless to say I had to send the items back immediately, I literally paid for very expensive shipping so that it would get there the next day !
in the package I wrote the reason for return is due to the clothing being faulty and I stated the faults against each item and I requested refund.

I received acknowledgement of the return and a refusal for refund, as they were stating the items were sale items, however all of the items on the website at the time were stating that they were new just in stock items and they were offering on sale price.

I replied back stating the same and reminded them that they may be sales stock but they were returned due to be faulty and i wanted a refund, they refused to acknowledge the faults and told me to choose an exchange and tried to force credit on my account to me.  This was not an option for me due to the quality of the items I had received.

I have tried to contact them a few times and have had the same response, I recently decided to take an exchange as its now june and my money is otherwise wasted but they are not responding back to me, they have not refunded me, credited my account, and they have not sent me  the exchanges I told them that I would take as a last option.
They have fraudulently stolen my money, they are thieves.

Its been quite some time now and i have told all of my family and friends to avoid shopping on the website www.cuckoofashion.com and I just recently realised that its not just all of my friends and family I should be telling but all of my readers too!
I would not want any of you to have to deal with this, and I thought this would also act as a review on cuckoo fashion for anyone researching the website before buying.
Since Eid is coming a lot of people will be shopping for Ramadan and Eid I felt a responsibility to make people aware of this.

When I spoke about cuckoo fashion on their Facebook page some people contacted me and said that they had similar bad experiences.

If anyone knows on how to deal with online fraud websites let me know, £87 is not the biggest amount to lose, but its big enough to feel bad if you know what I mean.

I hope you are all well, let me know what you are all doing,I'm just busy with studies right now, or feel free to share any of your  bad experiences with me.

Healthy Snacks Subscription by post plus tips for weight loss or gain

There are so many different subscription services available now.
I remember when there was only monthly magazines or monthly book subscriptions, does anyone remember mango.com ?? I used to get monthly chick lit from them but they and all other book subscription services seem to have shut down, except for a childrens book service I found.

Im also down for a couple of beauty boxes which I will blog about separately if you would like me to I  will share the contents of my jolie box and glossy box feel free to comment below.
anyhow back to the subject of this post.

I had heard about graze boxes through a magazine insert, I was interested but it took me months to finally try the service.

I placed my order on the weekend and my grazebox arrived this morning thats amazing considering you have to wait months in advance for beauty boxes.

What is Graze Box ??
Graze box is a food or snack subscription available in the uk
you can order a one off box, or once weekly, or once fortnightly or even a daily box.
The boxes are delivered through royal mail and come in letter box friendly packages.
you do have to supply your credit/debit card details to try the service but there is an option to try for free (see below) and also you can really control how many boxes you get and cancel when you want theres no minimum term etc. Each box costs £3.79 which includes the P&P and consists of four food punnets.

Whats in a Graze box??
First of all theres a choice of two options 'the nibble box' or the healthier lower calorie box. You can get four individually packaged snacks, inside of each box will contain either crackers, dippers, flapjack, cake and complimentary tea, bread, dried fruits, nuts or a combination of these.
there are about 100 different choices of snack packs, The first thing I did was to go through the entire menu and rated each item so that Im more like likely to get only the items I like or would like to try, there are five options for rating: Bin, Try, Like, Love, and following love you can click on send often.

In my first box:
Fruit and nut case - a combo of chocolate buttons, dried fruits and nuts. 170kcal
Lightly toasted pistachios - self explanatory 192kcal
Korai chutney - curry flavour crackers with sweet spicy chutney 69kcal
Apple and cinnamon flapjack -self explanatory 237kcal

Each box comes with a card explaining the food nutrition and calories within each food and the expiry date etc.
So far I have been so impressed with the contents that ive upgraded to two box deliveries per week.

Who is the graze box for ??

I think the grazebox could be for anyone make or female but some scenarios I can think of are -

professional peoples in busy jobs, I would love to have one of these cute boxes tucked in to my drawers at the office, as a busyI.T manager I often worked through my breaks and literally starved myself on days where I didnt have time to pack food or the canteen and deli were shut.

Busy or at home Mums, The house always has an abundance of food, the kids love their snacks, which are an easy option for pack lunches since any healthy items in the pack lunch boxes are returned home at the end of the day, its very tempting to eat crisps and chocolates as you are rushing around sorting everyone out, and often end up neglecting yourself at meal times because your soo busy looking after everyone else, ohh and husbands and children rarely appreciate the lighter low fat options in meals its usually fried, buttery and meaty, Although i try to keep these items minimal the point is its always there whereas any mum trying to lose weight tends to try and abstain altogether!

Students,  im now studying a law degree and as a busy student I often find that during intensive study times Im not eating well if at all and im literally starving at interals and refuel by living off of coffee and crisps or chocolates or cookies, It might only be abit that I have but its no nutritional value at all!

Overweight people stop buying all the junk and choose the healthier option box to munch on instead of crisps and chocolates, at only a few pounds per box two boxes will provide you  enough snacks to have onesnack or treat  a day as part of a low fat, low sugar calorie controlled diet, make sure its a healthy balanced diet, maybe porridge for breakfas, a sandwich for lunch with salad, and a big meal containing lots of fresh veggies and small portion of carbs and/or white meat or other form of protein and atleast a litre of water on top of any other drinks your having.
these are great for on the go to so you wont be tempted to buy chocolates.

Underweight people I think that one or two boxes of the nibble boxes a week as an additional supplement to your existing diet could really help you add some extra calories to your daily diet without relying on bad for you snacks such as crisps and chocolates which should only be eated in moderation due to the lack of nutritional value in these food types, a nibble punnet plus a carton of yghurt and some fruit juice could really help to put on some weight.

Im not a professionally qualified nutritionist, im just someone who has researched health and beauty as a whole, alot!

I hope this post was helpful to you all
and explained why there has been a lack of posts on my behalf (which I have sneakily sneaked in.)

If you would like to try this service for free I have a voucher code that will Allow my friends and family to try this for free so naturally i had to share this with all of you.

to try your first graze box for free use code: LV2L95JD
(I dont know how long this offer remains open)

or goto Graze

Thanx for stopping by

Storage tip:- candle jar brush holder

I always love a good storage tip and thought I'd share this tip on my blog since I tweeted it along time ago and Im aware that not all of my twitter followers follow my blog and vice versa.

This post is about how I store my sigma brushes

I was given the above candle by my sister, and at first I did not want to use it because I knew it would eventually finish but then I realised that Id probably be able to still use it as decoration or storage

Over the last few years it has stored various makeup items
makeup pencils such as eyeliners and lipliners  but since last year it has been holding my sigma brushes

Its really easy to do
You simply wait for the candle to burn down
if you burn your candles with care your candles should burn equally down
(let me know if you want tips on candle burning)
and the bottom should be virtually bare except for a metal wick holding base
and any light bits of wax are easily scraped off.

and you can store cosmetics, stationary or even jewellery.

I have various different jars to hold all sorts of shizzles :)

Do you have any good storage tips ??

HOTD:- loose swirly curls

My top favourite hair tool has to be my GHD flat iron hair stylers
I have quite a few as back ups I love them that much that I almost started collecting them -yes, sadly its true!
But I realied my mistake and thankfully I have stopped.
(I have already reviewed my GHDs if you are interested)

I do like the various different looks that I can create with my GHDs but I wanted to try out a Yogi conical styling wand (let me know if you want me to review this.

IOf all the looks I have tried with the yogi wand
this look is my favourite
very spirally but still loose curls -ohh how I wish I could wake up to hair like this!

(BTW this pic was also taken in the winter and it was just starting to snow so you can see a few iddy biddy snow flakes against my dark hair )

What do you think ?

My Winter Hair Style :- Ombre Hair

I decided to try out the Ombre hair trend this winter
OMBRE - gradient hair colour going from dark roots to light ends
but as always I added my own raspcherry twist to it because I cant just blindly follow a trend
I have to really like it and reasonably believe that I can pull it off and even then I like to do it my way
I coloured the roots black and the ends light brown and I have medium red brown streaks in the mid lengths.
I also cut layers and feathered the front around my face

I have changed my hair colour/cut again

(FYI- I have naturally brown hair)

What do you think ?

My Winter Obsession - Lush bath bombs and ballistics

I love love love love Bubble baths
When given a choice i usually pick bubble baths over alot of things

My life is so hectic
bubble baths really allow me to have some calm and rest in a day
it truely is my one indulgence

Lush bath products have become part of my winter routine since they are more enjoyable in cold winter evenings

I tend to go for my all time favourites
Bath bombs:- Butter balls, Honey Bee, Vanilla Fountain.
Bubble bars :- The comforter, Creamy candy.
Soaps :- Rockstar, Honey I washed the kids.

Ive also used other hair, body and skincare products that I will leave for another post since this is a bath post :)

This winter Ive gone out of my comfort zone and tried some new lush products.

I cant remember the names of all of these but the ones I know are :- The ginger bread cottage, Dorothy, Green bubbleroon (made to look like a macaroon but apparently made to soothe headaches!) also the chunk of soap is the scentenary soap from the 100th lush store opening anniversary celebration worldwide. buy from Lush

Have you tried any of these ?
What are your lush must haves ?

Swatches :- Some revlon red lipsticks

I thought id stick up some swatches of the most popular revlon red lipsticks as theres always alot of questions in regarding how similar and different the shades are.

Shades swatched
- Revlon Fire and Ice 720
- Revlon Red 730
- Revlon Cherries in the Snow 440

Revlon red and fire and ice are quite similar but i think revlon is a more true red and more lustrous
fire and ice is slightly cooler tones and slightly more matte
Cherries in the snow is an almost red super hot fuschia pink

All three lipsticks are creme formulas from the revlon super lustrous collection

I think theres always alot of talk about red lipsticks
it can cause alot of confusion
my personal thoughts is to try the shade you are attracted to
swatch it on your hand, do you still like it ?
ifso -go for it.
If not - try again !
Since im nt a particularlu red lipstick girl I think high street or drug store lipsticks are best for me considering a pay per wear basis!

I have some more red lipstick swatches from other high street brands to follow shortly
Available from boots and superdrug

Do you have any of these ?
